Senior Java Developer – Fund Trading Platform

We are looking for an experienced and technically skilled Senior Java Developer for an exciting consulting assignment within the banking and financial services sector.

You will join a team responsible for rebuilding and modernizing a business-critical fund trading platform that processes external mutual fund orders for customers in Sweden, Norway, and Finland.

About the Assignment

As a Senior Java Developer, you will play a key role in designing, developing, and maintaining a modern platform for processing mutual fund orders.

Your primary focus will be backend development using Java 21 and Spring Boot, while also contributing to frontend development, integrations, and quality assurance.

The role involves significant ownership throughout the software development lifecycle, from solution design and implementation to testing, deployment, and continuous improvement.

Test automation is an integral part of the development process, and you are expected to contribute hands-on to automated testing when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable microservices using Java 21 and Spring Boot.

• Develop and enhance REST APIs and system integrations.

• Build and maintain event-driven solutions using Apache Kafka.

• Develop frontend functionality using React.

• Work with Microsoft SQL Server, database logic, and data integrity.

• Write clean, maintainable, and testable code following object-oriented design principles and established design patterns.

• Design, implement, and maintain automated tests using JUnit, Cucumber, and relevant testing tools.

• Perform functional, regression, integration, API, and UI testing.

• Contribute to reusable test automation frameworks and quality assurance within CI/CD pipelines.

• Perform focused manual and exploratory testing when appropriate.

• Analyze test results, troubleshoot defects, and resolve technical issues.

• Collaborate closely with developers, DevOps engineers, and Product Management to deliver secure and reliable solutions.

• Continuously improve development, testing, and delivery processes through automation and best practices.

Required Qualifications

• Extensive professional experience in Java development and Spring Boot.

• Strong understanding of microservices architecture and object-oriented programming.

• Solid experience developing REST APIs and system integrations.

• Experience working with Apache Kafka and event-driven architectures.

• Good knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server.

• Experience with frontend development using React.

• Hands-on experience with automated testing using JUnit and Cucumber.

• Understanding of CI/CD pipelines, testing strategies, and software quality assurance.

• Ability to independently manage development tasks and solve complex technical challenges.

• Experience working in agile development environments and cross-functional teams.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience within banking, financial services, fund trading, or capital markets.

• Experience developing transaction-intensive and business-critical systems.

• Experience modernizing legacy applications and platforms.

• Experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks.
